Bringing your reptile to us is not a failure — it’s responsible.
You're not giving up. You're doing right by this animal — and that's exactly why we're here. Life changes. Kids go to college. Animals outgrow what their owners can provide. Our intake is judgment-free, full stop.
We accept reptiles and amphibians only. If you are trying to rehome a dog, cat, bird, or mammal, please see the local shelters we’ve listed — they are better equipped than we are.
What to expect when you reach out.
Submit the surrender form
Fill out our surrender form below with your reptile’s species, age, setup, and a recent photo. The more detail you provide, the faster we can respond.
Intake conversation
We’ll follow up within 72 hours to discuss the animal’s history, current setup, and any concerns. Bring the details; we’ll bring the patience.
Transfer arrangement
Subject to available space, we’ll coordinate pickup, drop-off, or transport through a partner. There is a suggested surrender donation of $25 that helps cover intake costs — never required, always appreciated.
Care & placement
Your reptile enters a structured acclimation period and, if needed, is referred to an exotic-experienced veterinarian. Once stable, the animal is listed for adoption. You can request updates.

Where we operate.
We are based in Yuma, Arizona and serve reptile surrenders throughout southern Arizona and the broader Southwest. For animals outside that range, we can sometimes coordinate transport or refer you to a partner rescue.
You will not be lectured.
We have heard every story. Nothing you tell us will shock us, and we will not lecture you. Our capacity is limited and we cannot always take every animal immediately — but we will always respond, and we will help you find a good outcome either way.
We can't help, but these folks can.
We are reptile-specialists. For dogs, cats, and most mammals, contact one of these local shelters — they're better equipped.
Start the process here.
Fill this out with whatever information you have. Required fields are the minimum we need to respond — everything else helps us move faster, but "not sure" is always a valid answer. We've heard every situation. Nothing here will surprise us. Questions first? Email admin@yumareptiles.com
